How much does it cost?

Painting prices

When it comes to painting work, the most important thing is to get an estimate. In order to carry it out, we have to go and see what is happening directly on the spot. This allows us to measure not only the scope of the work, but also the particular challenges given the specific configuration of the premises.

Our extensive experience guarantees more accurate evaluations. It also allows us to determine the period of time over which the work to be carried out will extend.

Ask questions

Residential or commercial sector, normally advice is not free of charge. Especially when it is given by paint experts. An evaluation visit, however, allows you to receive some. So don't underestimate what you can get out of it.

For greater efficiency, list your questions before the estimator arrives on site. This is the best way to make sure you don't forget any. These questions may be about the products used or the colours that are best suited.

Indeed, making sure that they go well with those of other pieces is not always easy. It is also an opportunity to communicate special wishes. The expert will be able to tell you how realistic they are, how much they cost, or offer alternatives if necessary.

What is the priority point to be taken into account when assessing costs? The size of the walls is the most important factor. But this task requires more rigour than you might think. In terms of the technical operation, it involves taking out the measuring tape and using it to specify the widths, heights and depths of the rooms to be painted. Precision is the rule! Mathematically, it's a matter of multiplying the values obtained. Don't forget the ceiling if you want to repaint it too! Once you have done this, you will obtain the total surface area to be considered.

Let's take the example of a room that is 20 feet deep, 10 feet high and 12 feet wide. Here is the result:

Wall 1: 12 feet x 10 feet=120 square feet
Wall 2: 20 feet x 10 feet=200 square feet
Wall 3: 12 feet x 10 feet=120 square feet
Wall 4: 20 feet x 10 feet=200 square feet
Ceiling: 12 feet x 20 feet=240 square feet

After having carried out each one of these multiplications, it is now a question of adding up the values obtained for all the walls and the ceiling. Our example totals 880 square feet. This is the entire surface to be painted, as if it were a single one. What is the purpose of this calculation now? Yes, to determine the number of gallons of paint needed for your project. But this total is also used to evaluate the cost of the work as well as the time required to complete it.

Working at heights

Sometimes some places have very high ceilings. The estimator will take this into account. He or she will have to judge whether the use of specialized equipment is necessary for safety reasons. At times, simple scaffolding may be appropriate. At other times, the use of a basket is unavoidable. Our professionalism goes as far as caring about the safety of our team, in addition to offering you high-quality work.

How many coats of paint will be required?

Another point that has an impact on costs is the quantity of paint layers to be applied. Here again, there are points to consider in order to make a sound judgement. The first point is undoubtedly the desired level of quality. The second is whether the wall or ceiling is covered with paint or whether it is being painted over for the very first time. In the latter case, a primer must be applied first. Then, two coats of paint will cover it. If paint is already present, the initial protection is not absolutely necessary. Last point, when paint is already present: if the shade to be applied is darker than the one already in place, three coats of paint may be required to cover the previous one.

How many colors?

Are you a colour lover? Some people are so fond of colour that they want more than one colour on the same wall. Nothing wrong with this of course, but the task becomes more complex and affects the preparation of the work. This means extra costs on the bill.

Unfurnished or furnished room?

It goes without saying that painting a furnished room as opposed to a completely empty room obviously takes longer, given the precautions that need to be taken. So you might as well empty the place when you can.

This way, when you move in, if it is possible to postpone your occupation of the premises after the painting work, you will save money. When this is not the case, rest assured: our team will take care to protect your objects and furniture to prevent any unfortunate stains or breakage.

Paint cut-out

You are probably familiar with cutting, the technique where the outline of surfaces is painted before filling the interior. This phase is necessary but requires dexterity. Also, the more fixtures, mouldings, electrical outlets, doors and windows, etc., the longer the working time. This is taken into account in the work flow plan. Our team carries out all these evaluations and also determines with you when the work will take place. Contact How to hire a building painter
